Most cities in the world suffer from water loss.

20%-40% of all water pumped into the distribution network is lost.
According to the European Environment Agency (EEA), unaccounted water
reaches an extent of 22-25% in Spain and England, 30% in Italy, 35% in
Ireland, and 40% in Slovenia.

Excessive pressure in the distribution pipes network is the primary
cause for leakage. As pressure increases due to a decrease in demand,
leakages increase significantly.
